WHAT NEXT?

The Atiamah Trust started fund raising in early 2004 and was registered as a charity in July 2004. We are a small charity run entirely by volunteers. We try very hard to constrain our overheads so that the funds we raise go almost totally to the projects and causes we support. We send only money; no clothes, food or other material goods. This is because we encourage our partners in Ghana to manage their own affairs. We do not want to dictate what is best for them - they know what is best and must determine their own priorities and we must give them the flexibility to do that.

So "what next?" is more and more fund raising. But the more we raise the more sophisticated our help can be. Remember that those who are helped are supported in their own communities. Anti-retro viral drug treatments are almost unheard of - we know of only a very few recipients in a population of 1.5 million. Children affected because their parents live with, or have died from, HIV/AIDS are given help with schooling. With more funds the education of older children can be directed into specific skills through apprenticeships. Work has started on a resource/health centre where better support and medical care can be given. Phase 2 of that building awaits funding. More nurses. Better food and nourishment. Other regions of Ghana.

The list is long.............!
