INTRODUCTION
The Atiamah Trust exists to help and support those who are suffering because of HIV/AIDS. Funds are used to help adults and children with food, medicines and education.
It is a charity run on a voluntary basis to raise funds primarily within the UK. The charity has limited overheads and aims to directly support any projects in Ghana which meet the objectives of the charity.
Currently our focus is on supporting a project based in the Upper East Region of Ghana where support from other agencies is limited. This is known as the Home Based Care project which identifies people with HIV/AIDS in the community and tries to provide them with basic support. That support extends to their family and in particular children and orphans who have been affected in any way.
The funds we raise are relatively small but are currently used to support over 1000 adults and children. That support ranges through basic food supplements, medicines and education. We also apply to other charitable trusts for grants which can be used to buy more medicines or vehicles.
We want to do more. Better medicines and treatments; more education and apprenticeships; a comprehensive resource cum health centre; other regions in Ghana. |
